Chapters 12-14 Summary

Lindsay continues to live and work in the slum. Tensions mount as the monsoon approaches. The supply line to the slum shops were under attack by the local non-slum merchants who wanted the business of the slum dwellers. He is still treating the injured and the sick. One day Karla appears at his clinic and tells him that they miss him at Leopold's. They talk and he invites her to stay for lunch. The luncheon is to celebrate the opening of a school for the slum children. Karla is impressed that the slum people all know and line Lindsay.

The luncheon is on the twenty third floor of the unfinished World Trade Center and dubbed the Village in the Sky. They introduce Karla to everyone and the talk turns to Sapna, a killer of the rich to help the poor. Eventually...
