Sierra Santiago

Sierra is the narrative’s main character. Maria is her mother, Lazario is her grandfather, and the woman called Lucera is her grandmother. She has friends and family.

Sierra is a talented artist who is struggling to find her identity. She avoids talking to cute boys and manages to make an excuse as to why it is best not to talk to them. She does not believe that she is a good artist and needs others to convince her to draw the mural. When she sees Robbie’s work, she thinks that he is a much better artist than she is. She is also not happy with her shape and worries about how she dresses when her mother mentions it before she goes to the party. Manny and Bennie have to reassure her.
