Summary

When the Stars Begin to Fall: Matt – Matt’s Grandma has been dead for three years. Fourteen year-old Matt’s Grandpa lovingly tends to the tree she and the rest of the family planted before her death. Grandpa wants to make sure that the tree does not die of thirst during a drought. For that reason, he will not leave to visit.So, Matt goes to visit him.

After dinner and watering the tree, Matt and Grandpa sit outside under the stars with Grandpa’s dog, Dog, a brown-and-white spaniel. Grandpa hums a song Grandma used to love with the line, “When the stars begin to fall.” However, he cannot remember the rest. He also notes the stars seem so close they could be touched. Matt explains that his best friend, Aman Khan, had said the same thing...
