Section 2: Chapters 3 & 4 Summary

In Chapter 3, Seraphina recounts how Orma saved her life three times. First, he saved her when she was eight years old as her dragon tutor held her over the edge of the tower. When Seraphina was older, Papa was furious when she taught herself music despite his prohibitions. After he broke her mother's flute and locked her in her room, she sneaked out and was nearly trampled by a dragon procession until Orma rescued her, bringing to life the memories that her mother, Linn, left her to be released at the sight of Orma in his dragon form. Bedridden for a week with visions, Seraphina's skin turned into flakes on her arm, causing her to question who she is and forcing Papa to tell her the truth about Linn's heritage.
