Summary

In Chapter 21, Allie and Joseph decided to drive to North Carolina and pay Jake a visit. During the drive, Allie told Joseph she planned to use the $1 million from the life insurance policy to re-open the Blue Tornado. Allie asked Joseph why he never came back to her and why he had never written to her. She said that she married Bobby only because she had not heard from Joseph. He admitted he lied when he said he was going to California, he had really gone to war. He also said he believed it would have been easier for her not to have love letters if he had not made it home.
