Chapter 20, "I Shall Live Forever" Summary

They must wait more than a week because, first there is too much wind, and then Colin has a cold. Mary and Colin are so preoccupied with planning, however, they do not mind the delay. With each day, Colin becomes more resolved that, once the plan is underway, no one should know about where he goes. Colin summons the head gardener to his rooms. Mrs. Medlock escorts the gardener, telling him that things are changing for the better in this house, and he should not be surprised if Dickon is more at home that you or I could ever be. The gardener is not surprised. He knows Dickon, everybody knows Dickon, and he thinks him a fine lad. The door opens, revealing, "Scoot" cawing out from his perch on.....
