Chapter 13, "I Am Colin" Summary

Mary awakens in the middle of that night, deeply disappointed by the sound of heavy rain and wind. She sits up in bed at a sound different from the wind, a sound she is sure is somebody crying. She takes a candle and follows the sound to a door with light beneath it. She opens the door and enters. She is in a big room with handsome, old furniture, a low fire and a big four-poster bed. A boy is in the bed, crying. He looks as if he has been ill, but he seems to be crying more from tiredness and frustration than from pain.
