Part 2: Chapter 6 Summary

Cecelia has an episode of sleepwalking and is guided back to bed by Ruby. Later Cecelia is in New York with Spencer and her father, attending a conference on eugenics. Spencer is set to give a speech there and brings Cecelia to keep an eye on her. While Spencer is distracted by his speech, Cecelia and Ruby go for a walk, arriving at the home of Hedda Barth, a famous psychic. Cecelia pays her to conduct a séance to reach her mother, but the only person the psychic is able to contact is Ruby's dead sister, Simone.

Spencer forces Cecelia to visit a famous obstetrician in New York. The obstetrician tells Spencer and Cecelia that there is no reason why Cecelia should fear she will die in childbirth. A short time later, Spencer, Cecelia, and Ruby return home. Cecelia goes...
