Part 1: Chapter 3 Summary

Ethan and Ross take a video camera and junk food to the Old Pike house to spend the night so that they might try to catch some evidence of a ghost. Ethan is less than impressed with the lack of fancy equipment. Ross and Ethan settle in at the Pike house for the night in a back bedroom. They begin to play cards and eat junk food. When Ross and Ethan hear a noise, Ethan becomes frightened. Ross sees a light outside the window. Ross leaves Ethan alone in the house while he chases after the light with the hope of catching sight of something paranormal. Instead, what Ross finds is a young woman digging in the frozen ground. The woman introduces herself as Lia Beaumont. Ross assumes she lives in the neighborhood. Then Ethan calls out for Ross.
