Chapters 49-55 Summary

In Chapter 49, Kelly Cruz calls Jesse and tells him about what happened in Kimmy Young's apartment, and says that after the paramedics got Kimmy to the hospital and gave her a sedative, she was able to talk about the past. When she was 15 she had been staying overnight with the Plum twins, and Mr. Plum had molested her after first molesting his daughters. Kimmy had never told anyone about it, and never saw the Plums again. Cruz tells Jesse that even before hearing Kimmy's story she'd suspected that there was something wrong with Mr. Plum; he seemed disconnected, and out of touch with reality. When Jesse asks if she thinks Mrs. Plum knows about the abuse Kelly says yes, but that she never knew what to do about it, and so she drank.
