Chapter 30 Summary

Kaitlin spends the night outside at her favorite spot on the Malone family land. The next day, Kaitlin's parents care for her, and Becky calls to offer support. Hortensia, the Crutchfield maid, has been sent to the Malone property to reclaim Maggie's diaries. Kaitlin keeps the diaries, but sends Hortensia back with the bracelet Bram gave her.

Chapter 30 Analysis

Kaitlin, in a symbolic gesture of solidarity with Maggie, keeps her diaries but returns the bracelet. Words and emotions matter more to Kaitlin than do gifts.
