Chapter 24 Summary

Kaitlin confronts Rick in the office while her mother is there because she knows what Rick has done. Rick has switched suppliers of pesticides in order to be able to order aldicarb, which isn't for use on tomatoes. Using it on tomatoes is highly toxic, and would ruin the Malone family name. She also tells Rick she knows that he's in the back pocket of the Crutchfields. Garner appears a moment later, having overheard everything. Rick tries to explain the company sent the wrong product, but Garner isn't convinced. He fires Rick.

Garner checks the records and discovers that the aldicarb was intentionally ordered. Kaitlin explains that she knew about Rick "just because" but knows the answer won't satisfy her parents for long.
