Summary

Chapter 21

Rushing quickly from the police station, Miles worries that they will come running after him. On second thought, the detective will probably just replace the file in his cluttered system without even looking at it. Miles can’t wait to sit and read the papers, but he doesn’t want to take that chance until he has put distance between himself and the police station. As he hurries down the street, he hears someone calling his name. It’s Eliza, of course, sitting at a café doing homework.

She calls him over. She asks him to join her, so he does. They get coffee and make small talk. Eliza apologizes that the vomiting incident at Preston’s party got out and everyone was talking about it. She explained that she never meant for it to leak out and was sorry...
