The prologue of Schindler's List begins in Poland in 1943, well into World War II. Oskar Schindler, a tall, well-dressed businessman wearing an ornamental Hakenkreuz (swastika), is on his way to a dinner party hosted by Nazi Commandant Amon Goeth. Goeth is head of the forced labor camp known as Plaszów, named after the Polish village where it is located. High-ranking SS (elite Nazi military) officials and several prostitutes also attend the party. Goeth parades Helen Hirsch, a young Jewish girl who works in his kitchen, before his guests to show off the bruises he has given her. Schindler secretly visits Helen in the kitchen, and offers her kindness in the form of a kiss on the forehead and a bar of chocolate. He urges her to take care of her health, so that.....
