Chapter Thirty Five through Chapter Thirty Seven Summary

In Chapter Thirty Five, Rocket asks about Mibs' savvy, and she replies that she and the world will survive it. Momma points out that she wants to hear the whole story, but Samson asks to first see Poppa. Momma, in tears, agrees. Outside his hospital door, Momma tells the children that the doctors have said Poppa may not ever wake, but that they need to keep praying. Momma, worried about the savvies of her children, looks at each of them independently, but all assure her they will be fine.

In Chapter Thirty Six, Poppa is lying in bed in a coma with wires and tubes hung on and around him. Grandpa and Rocket open the lid to the jar he carries, and Momma and Poppa's love song drifts through the room...
