Cognitive Revolution

The Cognitive Revolution was the point in human development at which fictive language allowed Sapiens to far surpass the cognitive abilities of other human species and later rise to the top of Earth’s food chain. It occurred between 70,000 and 30,0000 years ago and is considered by Harari to be the beginning of history.

Agricultural Revolution

The Agricultural Revolution was the point in history at which Sapiens domesticated plants and animals on a large scale, allowing them to cultivate their own food source, rather than relying on hunting and gathering. This allowed the species to live in large, fixed settlements and rapidly expand its population, but lowered the quality of life for individual humans. The Agricultural Revolution occurred approximately 10,000 years ago.
