Dr. Marion Ford aka Doc

The main character of the novel, Ford is a biologist who specializes in studying a variety of marine animals. Throughout the novel, he is primarily interested in sharks, but his knowledge of marine animals will play a crucial role in the plot of the novel. In addition, his role as a biologist allows him to be someone the other characters immediately trust and not believe he could be involved with underhanded activities.

He is living in Central America for years studying bull sharks at the God's Eyelake in Masagua, when he meets a woman named Pilar who is the wife of the president of the country and falls madly in love with her.
