Chapter Nineteen and Twenty Summary

Ford catches ten fish and starts to fillet them right away. He needs to create enough poison to be effective. Ford tells Tomlinson to pick up shells in case Zacul wants to know why they are down by the lake.

Ford goes to visit Oscar, Zacul's chef. He tells him that he wants to see how a real chef can cook in these conditions. By appealing to his ego, Oscar unknowingly allows Ford access to the food that he is about to serve to Zacul and his main officers. Ford finds the ocean bouillabaisse and dumps the poisonous fish in the pot, which is ideal because it will go undetected.

While Tomlinson is back in camp, he sees Suarez take off with Jake. It upsets him, but he is powerless to save the boy. Later that evening...
