Summary

In Chapter 18, Lela enters the tower and immediately is submerged in her memories of Rick, who seems to be present with her. Eventually, she realizes that the floor of the tower consists of people who have given up and allowed themselves to be consumed by their bad memories, but she hears Malachi’s voice urging her forward and in time she finds the door and gets out. Malachi is waiting for her and says he gets through faster now because he has done it many times. Ana runs through, but then she needs time to clear her head. When she returns, they resume their journey.
