Summary

Dolores Lucero thinks about the weeks before she lost her eyesight and the ways she saw her life as ordinary. She is hung up on the disappearance of a Filipino girl from town, Lucia. Doty and her sister, Tina, have lived together for two years since leaving Colorado as teenagers. They work as receptionists, and Tina has a boyfriend she hopes to marry. Tina sets up a double-date and begs Doty to be kind to her date for she must find somebody to spend her life with. Doty does not enjoy her date, but he sends her flowers the next day.

Joey and Doty go on another date next weekend at the lake. He tells her that a girl as pretty as her deserves to be taken care of. All four of them go on another double-date at a dance hall. Randy proposes...
