Mia Crestwell

The book's lead female character, Mia Crestwell, is a woman in her early to mid-twenties who becomes involved with her brother's friend and business partner, Gabe Hamilton. Mia is beautiful and intelligent, having graduated from a good college, but she is drifting, not having carved out a career. Her brother Jace, who is thirteen years her senior, has taken care of her and protected her since their parents died some years earlier, and because he has become quite wealthy, Mia has not been forced to become financially independent. While Jace pays for her apartment and other things, she works at a low-paying job in a bakery although she knows she is capable of more.
