Chapter 16 Summary

Blake sends Harper and Reacher to Seattle to talk with Rita Scimena because she is the closest to the current scene. On the six hour drive, Reacher tells Harper he thinks the killer flies and then rents a car.

Harper and Reacher talk about Reacher and his time in the army. They also talk about Jodie wanting stability and Reacher wanting to be a wanderer. When they arrive at Scimeca's village in Oregon, it is three in the morning. They pull up behind a bureau sedan in her driveway.

Chapter 16 Analysis

Additionally, Reacher has been telling the FBI all along that they need to reconsider the motive. Reacher implies to Harper that he knows the real motive. He refuses to tell them at this point, however, until he has all of the agents involved in one place.
