Summary

Chapter Eight begins with Charlie visiting Nostrils at home that same Saturday afternoon. Nostril’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Heath, share some cake and some good news – Nostrils has been invited to play for the local football team. Later, Charlie and Nostrils take the Redmonds’ dog and go rabbit hunting, with Charlie offering Nostrils the opportunity to go with him on Squizzy’s job that night, and Nostrils agreeing eagerly.

The night of the job is cold and rainy. Charlie and Nostrils arrive at Squizzy’s home, but are given their job, a pickup and a delivery, by one of Squizzy’s assistants,. They are not told what they are picking up and delivering. As they head for the site of the pickup, Nostrils becomes increasingly nervous, Charlie’s narration revealing that they are headed to the home of Henry Stokes...
