Part 4: Chapter 18 Summary
On the night the senior's films are shown, Molly is the only one to attend without a date. Hers is the last film to be viewed and by the time it begins, most of the audience has left. When her film ends, the remaining audience leaves without a word.
Molly graduates from NYU with honors, but does not attend the ceremony. She applies to the major studios but the best position she can find is as a secretary. She remains with the publisher with whom she worked while in college and becomes bitter that the world will not allow her to be the person she wants to be. She resolves to make films at some point in her life, even if it takes until she is 50 years old to be able to do so.
