Part 4: Chapter 16 Summary

Molly continues to see Polina, although she is tiring of the fantasies Polina insists on acting out. After describing one particularly disturbing fantasy, Molly suggests that Polina seek other women. But, even though Polina bristles at this suggestion, she is reluctant to introduce Molly to any of her own friends. Even so, she has no problem with Molly spending a great deal of time with her daughter, Alice.

One night, when Molly and Alice are alone, Alice says she thinks her mother wants to sleep with her. Molly advises her against this. Alice then suggests that she and Molly sleep together. They do, and then spend the next several weeks trying to keep their secret from Polina.

They succeed for a time, but one day, in the heat of a fight with her.....
