Part 2: Chapter 7 Summary

During the next few years, Molly and Leroy's relationship undergoes some significant changes. Leroy fails 8th grade and has to go to summer school. He then fails 9th grade twice. In the meantime, Craig, the man with whom he had a homosexual affair, moves away. Leroy asserts his heterosexuality by finding a girlfriend.

Molly, meanwhile, is excelling in school and is very active in extracurricular activities. Her two closest friends are Carolyn Simpson and Connie Pen, a girl Molly admits to having a crush on. Even so, Molly also has a boyfriend. Nonetheless, she and Leroy still occasionally have sex.

During their study of the Aeneid in Latin class, Molly and Connie concoct a scheme to win over their teacher. It was widely known that their teacher always cries during a certain portion.....
