Chapters 116-122 Summary

The agents begin by compiling a list of people who had been in direct contact with Szabo. Alex goes home that night ruminating over the list and what it signifies. In bed that night he has a sudden realization. There have been two Masterminds. When he interviewed Tony Brophy he was told that the Mastermind had large ears and a hooked nose. That description did not match the one that Macdougall provided. However, Szabo looked like what Macdougall predicted, and someone else did resemble Brophy's description. Dr. Francis had been Szabo's counselor before moving to Florida. In addition, Szabo's file stated that he had left the hospital with Dr. Francis on three separate occasions. Alex convinces Betsey of his conclusions, and then they speak with Kyle together. With Kyle's reluctant permission, Alex and Betsey board a plane for Florida.
