Chapters 5-10 Summary

Kyle accompanies Alex inside. They check on Alex Junior who is now sleeping. After friendly banter about Alex Junior's physical resemblance to his dad, talk quickly turns to a more serious matter. They discuss a recent case which occurred in Silver Spring. The robbery went off seamlessly and varied by less than a minute from the demands of the perpetrator. Based upon those facts, it seemed that the murders of the hostages were not necessary. Because Washington is Alex's jurisdiction, Kyle needs Alex to search for the killers before they strike again. Kyle leaves, and when Alex searches for Christine he discovers that she left with Alex Junior while he was speaking with Kyle. Their relationship had been rocky lately, and this didn't help.

Later that night the Mastermind goes to visit the robbers. They are living in squalid conditions in...
