Chapters 1-7 Summary

In Chapter 1, Libby Sawyer sits under a tree at Parfrey's Glen, a nature preserve across the highway from her home, and watches the cars pass on the highway as she draws. A large bus pulls into the park and Libby watches as a perfect family climbs out. It makes Libby think of a time when she had a perfect family like that. This thought brings Libby both happy memories and grief. As the three teen boys play with a Frisbee Libby watches. Then one of the boys comes over and begins talking to her.
