The third act also takes place in the office. Laudisi lounges in a chair as, in the background, the sound of several people arguing is heard. The Butler shows in Police Commissioner Centuri and then starts to go into the other room, but Laudisi stops him, saying he'll call the others in himself in a few moments. The Butler goes out, and Laudisi compliments Centuri on the good work he's done, asking whether the information he's uncovered is solid fact. Centuri tells him he's found a few people from Ponza's village and shows Laudisi the letters and communications he's received from them. Laudisi goes through them all, and when he's done, he says there's absolutely nothing of any real significance in them. He suggests that Centuri would be doing a great.....
