Hospital

The hospital is the first setting in the novel. The first thing Chase remembers about his new life is waking up in the hospital surrounded by strangers who turn out to be his mother and brother. The hospital is presented as a frightening and isolated place. There are fluorescent lights on the ceiling. Chase wakes up on a hospital bed, attached to an IV machine.
