The author uses Morgan’s dedication of her life to Clara to demonstrate the beauty of selflessness. Even though Clara believes that Morgan and Jonah are having an affair, Morgan is willing to make herself a villain if it saves Clara’s opinion of Chris. Jonah demonstrates this same selflessness when he leaves because he does not want to get between Chris and Morgan in their relationship and when he makes the decision not to have a paternity test for Elijah.
