Chapter Thirty-four Summary

Miriam excitedly welcomes Paul and a nervous Angel home. Angel is anxious to see Michael, saying that if she doesn't go to see him right away, she may never have the courage to do so. Paul and Miriam walk her home, but Angel insists that she walk the last few minutes alone. As she walks toward the house, she sees Michael working in the field. As she walks toward him, he glances up, and she knows the exact moment he sees her. As she walks, Angel takes off her jacket, followed by her shirt and skirt, and even her undergarments. She wants to arrive at Michael unburdened by the things of the world. When she arrives at her husband, she falls to her knees and says that she is sorry. Michael pulls her.....
