Dominika Egorova

Dominika Egorova is the leading female character in the novel. She is a Russian citizen loyal to her country and excited about being given the opportunity to serve her country when she is first offered a job in the SVR. She quickly becomes so disillusioned by the treatment she receives that she volunteers to work as a double agent for the CIA. Dominika feels tricked again when she is fed information by the CIA to give to the Russians that results in the capture of a senior officer in the SVR, Korchnoi, who had been also working as a spy and was Dominika’s boss. Even though Korchnoi had intended for Dominika to turn him in and take his place as the leading spy for the Americans she was not aware of his plans when she was manipulated into betraying him.
