Summary

Chapter 13 is titled “Dance Me to Your Beauty.” Alec feels abandoned and is relieved to remember that he is supposed to be searching for the goat statue and Mori Shu. He begins to wander through rooms. He finds two women “making out” (and later learns one of them is Helen Blacktorn and the other is a vampire named Lily). Alec encounters a young vampire standing against a wall, texting, and tries to strike up a conversation. He soon realizes the vampire is Raphael Santiago, second-in-command of the New York vampire clan. Raphael makes a disparaging remark about Alec's age and Alec points out that they fought side-by-side in the recent war. A vampire named Lily rushes up, announcing that their friend is drunk on various kinds of blood. After a brief back and forth, Lily and Raphael leave, and Alec continues his search...
