Norta

Norta is a mountainous, heavily-wooded country that has been at war with the Lakelands for nearly a hundred years. There are two primary classes of people in Norta, as there are in all other countries: the upperclass Silvers, and the lowerclass Reds. Each group is further subdivided into classes. For example, there are the lowly Houses, elite houses, and the Royal House among others in the Silver stratum. Norta is governed from its capital of Archeon through most of the year, and from summer court in Summerton during the summers. A river connects Archeon to Summerton, along which rests country estates, factory towns, and impoverished communities like the Stilts, where Mare is born and raised. Discontent among Reds towards Silvers has never been higher in Norta. The Scarlet Guard is determined to exploit this discontent, while Cal is determined to find a way to stamp it out.
