Mare

Mare Molly Barrow is the main character, principal protagonist, and narrator of the novel “Rd Queen” by Victoria Aveyard. Mare is a pretty seventeen year-old girl and member of the Red Class who works as a pickpocket in the Stilts, Norta. Mare is devoted to her family, and is best friends with Kilorn. Despite Mare’s living in poverty, she still has much to learn about the world. She hates all Silvers, and wants to see Reds made equal. Hoping to avoid military service, Mare is introduced to Farley of the Scarlet Guard. Farley promises to take Mare and Kilorn away for a staggering sum, which Mare knows will be hard to come by. She convinces her younger sister, Gisa, to allow her to accompany Gisa to Summerton to find a big score.
