Summary

Chapter 7 – Mare is still in disbelief that Cal is Prince Tiberias the Seventh. Queenstrial is proclaimed, and Lord Provos is summoned by the king to transform the Gardens for the Queenstrials with waterfalls and pools. Each of the Silver girls begins to appear, some as young as fourteen. The girls demonstrate their special powers and abilities to be matched with the princes to produce even more powerful offspring. These abilities are very diverse and immensely powerful, stunning Mare. Rorh, from the House of Rhambos, who can shatter stone. Heron, from the House of Welle, can grow trees and set them on fire. Evangeline of the House of Samos is the crowd favorite. She controls metal, using it like ammunition from a gun. She then begins to shift the boxes in which the Silvers watch, causing panic and causing Mare to fall.
