How Anger Destroys

Dealing with anger is a very important theme in this book. Amelia has been treated very unfairly and she is determined to get revenge. She was once the mistress of a very powerful man. She was pregnant with his son and grew to love the child. When the child was born, she was told that it was a stillborn girl, and the child was taken away. Determined to get her child back, she went to the house to ask for her son. She was rejected.

Her obsession with obtaining revenge leads to her own insanity. While she plans to curse others, she ends up cursed herself. Amelia is very confused and unhappy, and she lashes out at others.
