Newville, Oregon, post 2018

Newville is a tiny fishing town on the Oregon coast. It rains frequently, and the town is often covered in mist. There is a high school, a lighthouse observatory, and a handful of stores. Susan, Ro, and Mattie all live in Newville.

In this time period, things are not very different from the way they are today. The most notable difference is that the United States government has made abortion illegal, and made it a criminal offense. It is also now illegal for anyone but a married couple to adopt a child.
