Summary

The next chapter is titled “A Secret Revealed.” Francisco had told everyone that he was born in the United States and he began to feel guilty about telling Laura that secret. They went out for coffee and he struggled to find the courage to tell her the truth. When he finally told her, she was surprised and said all four of her grandparents were born in Italy and had come to America where they became laborers or ran a small business. Laura's mother died when she was young and her grandparents raised her. They spoke Italian at home and she grew up immersed in the Italian culture.
