Summary

In “Blizzard of Summer,” a marginally successful punk band gathered together with their manager to discuss some recent developments. The band's song, “Blizzard of Summer,” had recently been climbing the music charts because of its popularity among white supremacists. The song was about a break-up and its lyrics did not address race in any way. The band members and the manager discussed their options, and consider whether the band should stop playing this particular song. They decided not to make any decisions without consulting the bass player, who was back at the hotel, apparently working on a song about his parents' divorce. The band's DJ asked the drummer what the song was called and he responded, “He told me the working title is 'Bomb Israel.' But maybe we'll want to retool that” (60).
