Matt

Matt is in his senior year of high school. He's popular, good-looking, and a co-captain on the football team. Although he's a great football player, he has a passion for baseball as well. The only reason he didn't pursue this passion is because his father encouraged him to go after football. The training is entirely different for the two sports so he had to select one. Matt does not get along with his father at all. He can't stand the man and wants to get away from him, but he doesn't voice his opinions to his father. Instead, he internalizes them. He knows that he is physically strong and can take his father on, but he doesn't do it until the very end of the book.
