San Francisco

This location is where the novel begins and where all four friends currently reside. Although occasional flashbacks take the reader to different locations, the novel maintains a grounding in San Francisco. Because the novel is less about place, and focuses more on self exploration, the author spends a relatively short amount of time creating a detailed setting, and more time on how the various characters interact with their surrounding environment.

Stanford

Stanford is a prestigious university located in Northern California. It is here the four friends- Will, Henrik, Linda, and Cory- met and lived together for junior and senior year.
