Summary

Chapter six returns to Cory. Cory is late for her Handshake appointment, the CEO class her father recommended. Cory grabs her bike and peddles furiously to the office building where the Handshake seminar is held. She mentally reads the brochure outlining the seminar and surveys the room, noticing may odd people. The main teacher introduces himself as Evan Perch and begins to explain the end goal of the course as aimed at creating " special leaders and entrepreneurs" (141). Perch continues to drone on about the method of handshake, and then points dramatically at Cory. Perch asks Cory her name, to which Cory responds falsely that she is called Linda, and then invites Cory on stage. As Cory begins to describe what her company does, Perch stops her saying that he senses the reason her company is failing is not a management issue, but Cory's own...
