Part 1, Sleeping Beauty: Chapters 5-9 Summary

In Zane, Tally wakes after an odd dream to a ping from Zane. Zane invites Tally to meet him for breakfast in the park. Zane is impressed with the scar that has formed over Tally's eyebrow where Peris kicked her the night before. Zane questions Tally about the ugly who crashed the party the night before and recognizes Croy's name when Tally tells him. It turns out that Zane was part of the group that was supposed to escape to the Smoke before their birthdays that included Croy and was supposed to include Shay. Zane chickened out along with Shay. As they talk, Zane suddenly moves closer to Tally and kisses her. This causes Tally to become more bubbly, more clear headed.
