Chapters 69 and 70 Summary

Nick crouches beside Tony's police car with Tony. Tony calls Bill on the phone to tell him he has the plane and pilot. The police escort Bill and Beth to the airport, where they board the private plane waiting for them.

Jake is the pilot flying the plane. He radios into the control tower for permission to take off. Jake tries to engage Bill in conversation about flying them to Cozumel, but Bill tells him to shut up and fly the plane. Jake doesn't know if Beth recognizes him or not. Jake makes eye contact with Beth in the mirror and hopes she's thinking what he's thinking. Jake swerves the plan so that Bill drops the gun. The gun flies out of Beth's reach. She finally reaches the gun and points it at Bill.

Jake cautions Beth against firing the gun...
