Chapter 9, The Shot Summary
As the years pass, Hester will finally do something with her music degree. She will leave her folk songs behind, and channel her rage into a wildly successful career as a rock 'n roll singer, ironically taking on the stage name Hester the Molester. John will stay in Canada, despite Dan's frequent entreaties to move back to the States. He feels that John is still bitter at the whole country for what happened to Owen, and that this is not what Owen would have wanted.
John now concedes that he knows the purpose of Owen's voice, as well as everything else that happened to him. John now believes in miracles. Hester, before Owen's death, tells him firmly that she would do anything for him, but will not attend his funeral. True to her word, she does not.
