Chapter 11 "Pippi Celebrates Her Birthday" Summary

Tommy and Annika get a misspelled birthday invitation from Pippi in their mailbox. The siblings are excited about the party, which is the next day. Despite the misspelling, the invitation is readable. Although Pippi had trouble in school, a sailor on her father's ship taught her a little about writing. Pippi was not a good student on the ship because she was preoccupied with checking the weather. It took her an entire night to write the letter. After school on the party day, Tommy and Annika get dressed up. Annika has to settle for her second-best dress because her mother does not want her dirtying her best dress at Pippi's. Tommy wears a suit. They bought a birthday present with their own money from a toy store on Main.....
