Chapter 8 "Pippi Entertains Two Burglars" Summary
Pippi's antics at the circus make the newspaper, and everyone in town knows about her. However people from other places do not necessarily know about her. Two thieves are walking by Villa Villekulla one fall evening. They see at light and go there to ask for food. Pippi is counting her gold, though she is counting wrongly. She hears a knock at the door and answers to come in or go. The two thieves enter and are shocked to see a girl with all that gold. They ask if she is alone. She says Mr. Nilsson is there too. The thieves, not realizing Mr. Nilsson is monkey and thinking he is a man, signal to each other they can return later and they ask Pippi what her clock is. Pippi chastises them for not knowing what a clock is, which she explains as something that goes "tick tack." The thieves...
